This Week at Encounter
Summer Baptism: We’ll gather at the White Wagon Boat Launch in Chemung on Sunday, Aug. 4 for our Summer Baptisms in the Chemung River. (see the map at right for directions) It’s a celebration of those who continue their faith journey with this outward expression of an inward change. Click here to learn more about baptism. And please plan to join us that day to celebrate these new lives in Christ
Stuff the Bus: Again this year, we're partnering with Choice 102 to bring much-needed school supplies to students in the Athens, Sayre, Waverly and Tioga Central school districts. The campaign gets under way on Thursday, Aug. 1 with a live broadcast on Choice 102. The bus will be parked in front of Valley Energy on Desmond Street in Sayre until Tuesday, Aug. 20. Following another Choice 102 live broadcast, teams from Encounter will distribute the items to the districts. If you would like to help out, contact Rebecca Romig at 607-857-2128. For more details about the program, visit our web site.

At Encounter, church isn’t a place you go on Sunday, it’s what you do every day of the week. Our mission is to love God, love people and make disciples. We do that through our vision – To give, love and serve in Jesus’ name and see our community transformed one person at a time.
Adult ministries at Encounter are designed to make the big Sunday morning church experience feel a little smaller. We've crafted our environments to help you connect with others who are in the same season of life, forming close-knit communities to navigate the ups and downs of those seasons together. By meeting together, sharing meals, walking through curriculum, studying the Word, and simply doing life with another, the adults in our congregation have a safe place where they can get connected with the resources, support, and friendships to help them live fuller lives in Christ.
None of us wants church to be a place our kids dread going. And the good news is, we don't think it has to be! It's our hope that by creating fun, exciting environments where kids (babies through 5th grade) can experience God in new ways, we'll help you avoid the Sunday morning struggle and make church a place your kids can't wait to get to each week! For our student-age teens, our student ministry connects students with one another as well as with leaders who want to support them in their journeys.
